The man killed in Monday’s fuel storage tank explosion at Brownies Oil has been identified.
Brian Krauss, 37, from New Castle was hired by Brownies Oil Company to fix some scaffolding that was attached to the fuel storage tanks. A 10,000 gallon off road diesel fuel storage tank exploded sending Krauss and the tank flying. The tank landed in a near by neighbors side yard.
Krauss was an independent contractor and owned Krauss Portable Welding.
Krauss suffered injuries to his pelvis when he was thrown from the scaffolding to the ground during the explosion.
The Mercer County Coroner’s office ruled Krauss’ death accidental. Krauss was pronounced dead at the scene of the explosion Monday evening.
